The race is on for teams to secure a place at the KM Dragon Boat Race as 50 boats have already been snapped up.
Charities, businesses, and individuals looking for an exciting challenge are invited to book now for the event which is being staged by the KM Charity Team on Sunday, July 2.
Jessica Pearmine of Kent Reliance, headline partner of the event, said: “We are delighted that 50 teams have signed up and the event is on course to be another record breaker. Last year, the teams raised £100,000 for charity so we can’t wait for the boats to take to the water in July.”
She added: “There are only a handful of places left so we would advise anyone interested in taking part to book without delay.”
Teams of 11 will raise sponsorship money for their favourite charity by racing the dragon across the 250m course at Mote Park, Maidstone. Charity supporters, friends, and organisations will compete in three races throughout the day with a final battle to determine the overall winner.
Squad members can conserve their energy by recruiting up to 17 people per team and taking turns to race.
Event organiser Dominic Comins of the KM Charity Team said: “Teams enjoy an electric atmosphere with the thrill of the race and palpable excitement of supporters cheering them on. It’s a fantastic day out and a wonderful way to raise money for your favourite charity.”
Participants and spectators will be able to visit stalls, purchase food and drink, or hire rowing boats or pedal boats at Mote Park Watersports Centre.
