The KM Charity Team will be moving offices over the summer following the decision of KM Media Group to move the bulk of its east Kent operations to Ashford.
With the majority of the educational charity’s staff living in the Canterbury district the decision has been made to remain locally with Whitstable, Faversham and Herne Bay the favourite target locations.
The move will put financial strain on the charity as it has never had to fund accommodation costs before. For the last decade it has enjoyed free office accommodation within the KM building in Whitstable and for the first 10 years of its existence the charity received free office space at Kent County Council’s Beer Cart Lane building in Canterbury.
Simon Dolby, Chief Executive of the KM Charity Team, said: “The coming two years will see major change for our charity with us finding a new home, the change of ownership of KM Media Group and the approval of the Charity Commission for our organisation to go national.
“This is an exciting time for the charity but also one fraught with risk due to increased costs associated with accommodation and our roll-out of services to Sussex and London.”
He added: “We have a fantastic team of staff backed-up by an experienced Trustee board. I’m confident we will be able to make the most of the opportunities available to us.”
