The KM Charity Team have announced an exciting new appointment with Rebecca Smith taking up the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer from October 1.

Rebecca Smith

Rebecca is set to join the children’s educational charity after working for Social Enterprise Kent for 12 years as Director of Community Enterprise. With a background in HR, bid writing, and managing complex community and adult educational projects, she will bring with her a range of experience and a passion for the people with whom she works.

Rebecca said: “I am excited to be joining the KM Charity Team. I am inspired every day by the difference charities and schools make to communities and individuals, and I am looking forward to joining the KM Charity Team on their journey.”

Her path has crossed with the KM Charity Team many times, as her previous company Social Enterprise Kent have long been a supporter of the charity’s activities by participating in collaborative fundraising events and sponsoring the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards and Kent Literacy Awards.

She spent almost a year as Trustee of the KM Charity Team but has stepped down in this role following her appointment as Deputy CEO.

Born and raised in Australia, Rebecca has been living in the UK since 2003 and currently resides in Herne Bay. She has two boys at primary school and has seen firsthand the difference the KM Charity Team’s educational work can make to children’s wellbeing and prospects.

Her first event in her new role will be at the charity’s annual general meeting as part of the yearly KM Charity Team Forum staged at Mercure Great Danes Hotel, Maidstone on October 13.
