A challenge has been issued to quiz teams in Kent to take on the champions at the Medway heat of the KM Big Charity Quiz 2018.

The county’s finest quizzers have laid down the gauntlet to quiz-goers at the annual wine and wisdom event being staged by the KM Charity Team in March.

Stars of the quiz scene the Medway-based Supernova will be among the teams competing for the Big Quiz trophy and a coveted place in the grand final. Supernova will be defending their title as current reigning Medway district and county champions.

Booking is now open for teams of up to eight to take on the brainiacs on Friday, March 9 at the St George Hotel in Chatham.

The event which is supported by Specsavers  will ensure a huge windfall for charity as Barclays bank will match all funds raised pound for pound.

Ticket price includes a bottle of wine, sparkling water, and a generous helping of snacks for the table. Further refreshments will be available for purchase at the Spitfire charity bar supplied by Shepherd Neame.

A bumper prize raffle will feature classic toys and collectables from Hornby which has donated hundreds of pounds worth of gifts for the four Big Quiz heats taking place across the region this year.

One quiz-goer will be selected to answer an on-the-spot general knowledge question to bag a pair of Eurostar tickets.

Winners on the night will not only get their hands on the Big Quiz Trophy but also receive ferry crossing vouchers from DFDS Seaways.

Funds raised will support the Medway Messenger newspaper’s charity of the year Unit 1 Skatepark which offers young people from all walks of life a safe space to socialise and build confidence while improving skateboarding, scootering, and bmx skills.

The charity also links homeless youngsters with relevant authorities, food banks, and rehabilitation centres – and works with the Prince’s Trust to help young people boost their prospects.

Also benefiting from the event will be children’s literacy and road safety services for schools in Medway.

Other good causes have the chance to take a slice of the Big Quiz charity pot – up to £1,000 – in a prize draw for charities submitting at least one quiz team for the event.

Event organiser Dominic Comins of the KM Charity Team said: “Any pub quiz teams looking for a fun night out should look no further!

“Join our mammoth event for a lively and hugely enjoyable evening with lots of wonderful prizes to be won – and you’ll be helping local charities to continue their good work.”
