Businesses and charities in Kent and Medway can learn valuable media skills at a KM Charity Team training day in November.
The course, to be delivered by KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby on Saturday November 27, will show how organisations can use press releases to raise their profile and generate supporters or income.
The practical, hands-on, half-day course will focus on press release training at basic and intermediate levels. It is perfect for those with little or no experience of media relations, but will also have plenty to offer for the more experienced.
The session will cover: campaign objectives; when to contact the media; who to contact; how to contact them; the basic structure and content of press releases; writing skills; and advanced tips.
In addition to founding the KM Charity Team, Simon Dolby worked as a journalist for more than 20 years, winning a range of media-industry awards.
He has invaluable experience of being on either side of the PR divide, and has clear knowledge of how to capture the interest and sympathy of editors and reporters.
Mr Dolby said: “Contacting the media to try to generate interest in your business or charity can be intimidating for those with less experience.
“And when you go about things the wrong way, you risk starting off by making a bad impression and squandering reputation opportunities.
“Done correctly, however, PR can be a really valuable and cost-effective means of generating coverage of and business or support for your organisation.
“I’d love to share my knowledge about creating successful press releases at the training day in November, and urge businesses and charities to sign up for it now.”
The training will take place between 9.30am and 12.30pm at the KM Charity Team offices at 10 Estuary View, Whitstable.
The course costs £60, and the price includes tea and coffee at welcome and break, and a sandwich platter lunch. To take advantage of a special £15 discount, use the discount code KMNEWS18.
As the session caters for a maximum of just 10 delegates, it is not possible to offer refunds as there might not be sufficient time to arrange replacement bookings.
