Three R’s Teacher Recruitment has appointed a dedicated Green Ambassador to help promote the KM Charity Team’s green-travel work with schools.

The company is a long-standing corporate partner of the KM Charity Team, providing vital support with initiatives such as the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards, Walk to School, Buster’s Book Club and Young Cooks.

It has now named staff member Grace Dowd as the firm’s Green Champion to promote Walk to School in schools across Kent and Medway.

Three R’s business development manager Alison Nightingale said: “We’ve been proud sponsors of the Walk to School initiative since 2011, and it has been a great honour to be able to promote one of our team members to be a champion for the green initiatives that the KM Charity Team operate.

Grace, who will produce and present assemblies for schools taking part in KM Charity Team green travel schemes, said: “I’m so proud to be named Green Champion of Three R’s’ Walk to School scheme.

“Nothing is more important than getting the next generation fit and healthy.”

KM Charity Team green travel project officer Sarah Clyne said: “I am delighted that Three R’s have appointed their very own Green Ambassador to support the KM Charity Team’s work promoting green travel in schools, and would like to remind schools involved that they are eligible for our Green School Awards.”

The Green School Awards celebrate school environmental projects. There are five other categories in the awards: energy conservation; green travel and road safety; nature conservation; health and wellbeing; and recycling.

The judges are Golding Vision, ADM Computing, Ashford International Hotel, EduKit, NCS Technology, Loop CR, Kidzania and Medway and Kent councils.

The KM Charity Team’s green travel initiatives include Super Wow and Green Footsteps, which encourage families to walk to school, with classes competing each week to be awarded the Green Class of the Week Trophy.

A monthly inter-school green travel challenge awards winning classes tickets to leisure attractions or visits by storytellers.
