The search has begun to find the South-East’s best teaching staff with the launch of a trio of awards schemes.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Kent, Sussex and London Teacher of the Year Awards.

The London Teacher of the Year Awards judges

Organised by Inspire Schools, the awards recognise school staff’s expertise, dedication and vital contribution to the community.

There are separate categories for primary, secondary, further education and newly qualified teachers, non-teaching staff and volunteers.

The judges will select winners at the London and county level as well as for each of the local authority areas in each region.

‘There’s been greater need for awards like these’

KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby said: “Why not start 2019 with a resolution to demonstrate how much you appreciate the wonderful work that teachers, individual and teams of staff do in the South East’s schools and colleges?

“It can’t be stated often enough how much we all owe to their efforts.

“And ‑ with schools and their staff and volunteers straining under the burden of straitened finances and ever-expanding workloads – there’s never been greater need for awards like these.”

Anyone can submit nominations, and the deadlines for doing so are March 1 for Kent and Sussex, and March 7 for London.
