Free trial of Green Footsteps

Join the walk to school campaign in Kent and Medway for free!

Schools passionate about improving your pupils’ healthy lifestyles and helping to remove school run traffic from local roads can take up a free trial of a simplified version of our Green Footsteps scheme to use during Kent Green Footsteps Week which aims to encourage all schools to walk, cycle, scooter or park and stride to school on Wednesday, June 8.

The aims of the scheme are:
  • To maximise the numbers walking or cycling to school and to cut school run vehicle traffic.
  • To raise the profile of the walk to school campaign.
  • To record the numbers of walkers for the official Kent figures.
How it works:
  • You sign up for the free trial Green Footsteps scheme by returning the reply slip.
  • Your nominated scheme co-ordinator taps in participating class names onto our special web page.
  • You photocopy the newsletter we provide and send home in the children’s book bags to challenge families to use green travel to get to school.
  • You give us feedback.

The class that has the most children travelling to school by green transport will win a visit from Buster Bug the walk to school mascot!

If you wish to speak to a member of our team about any of our initiatives why not attend our next free event at Leeds Castle on Weds 18th May, from 9.30am. Come along and find out more about the walk to school campaign and:

  • Receive an early bird discount voucher for ordering Walk on Wednesday (WOW) or Walking Bug class packs to deliver this simple but effective programme in school all year round.
  • Find out more about our free week-long trial of the new Green Footsteps walk to school scheme so you can see how easy these schemes are to operate.
  • Meet the Buster Bug mascot and find out about how Bug TV and its free companion newsletters can help promote healthy lifestyle topics in your school.
Refreshments will be provided and a photocall held for attendees with beautiful Leeds Castle as a backdrop. There will also be an optional free tour of the castle provided for school representatives by their top guide. Please complete and return the feedback info below as soon as possible as places are limited.
