Primary pupils across Kent and Medway have been rewarded for helping the environment and themselves by walking to school.
More than 180 schools take part in Wow and Walking Bug schemes and on Challenge Day classes with the highest number of walkers are named winners and receive trophies and prize packages.
Walk on Wednesday encourages all pupils to make a commitment to green transport by always walking or cycling in on a Wednesday.
Its partner scheme the Walking Bug offers incentives to pupils to walk throughout the week, including offering stickers and tally cards and fun curriculum-based activities as a reward.
The schemes have the backing of major companies including Bel UK, Ringway, Volker Highways and Eurostar along with top Kent tourist attractions, Leeds Castle and the Powell Cotton Museum and Gardens in Birchington.
Rosie Tapp from Bel UK said: “Well done to all the winning classes on their success.
“We hope the sun will always shine on a Wednesday.”
