Help create Kent's biggest walking bus
Join a record-breaking attempt at creating the largest walking bus and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the walk to school service.
Families from across the district are being invited to take part in Big Bus 2010 on Saturday, May 15.
Members of walking buses will meet up in the Dane John Gardens in Canterbury at 10am and then march through the city centre.
Before the column heads off they will get the chance to sing the Walking Bus song, callers sing a line and everyone else repeats it, so it is nice and easy.
Walkers are encouraged to bring banners and there will be a competition for the best new banner, which could be based around the 10th birthday theme.
The competition will be judged by walking bus sponsor Denne who will present a prize to the most eye-catching creation.
At the end of the walk children will be invited to take part in a special version of the KM Charity Team’s Ten Challenge.
Walking bus project officer Katie McDaniel said: “Children will be given a tally card which will be stamped every time they complete one of the exciting activities.
“It will be a lot of fun and a great way to join our birthday celebrations. Come along and help us break the record for the biggest walking bus in Kent.
Katie added that the event usually gets television coverage, another good reason to take part.
All parents and children attending the event will be entered into a free draw, with the winner receiving an ipod Shuffle donated by Ringway.
After the draw has taken place children will receive a goody bag containing vouchers from Leeds Castle, Buckmore Park and from sponsors Ringway and Denne. The event will finish at 12.30pm.
To take part in the event you must order child tickets online, you do not need tickets for the adults attending.
Bookings for tickets are now closed however places are available on the day. See you at the Dane John Gardens.
