Henry sets shining example for walking

Henry Martin and his Golden Shoe Award for walking

Henry Martin knows all about the benefits of walking to school.

He has been stepping out to Joy Lane Primary School in Whitstable for the last six years.

To mark his achievement the 11-year-old was presented with a Golden Shoe Award.

Walking bus co-ordinator Melanie Martin said: “Henry has walked on our bus since he started school and the scheme was launched.

“He has passed all his road safety awards and sets a good example to the younger walkers, often taking them under his wing and looking after them when their parents don't walk.

“He will be greatly missed.”

As well as the KM Group, the Walking Bus, which is a KCC-led initiative, is sponsored by Denne, Bel UK, Ringway, Veolia Environmental Services, Warburtons and Eurostar.
