Fundraising support – together we make a difference for charity

Raising your press profile can raise funds
Discover how the humble press release can earn your cause supporters, cash and volunteers. This practical hands-on half day course will focus on press release training at basic and intermediate level – and will help you understand how to use this tool to further the campaigns of your cause. Whether you are a raw beginner or a regular in the black arts, Simon Dolby’s course on press release writing will meet your needs. This half day course is perfect for those just starting out in trying to generate press coverage for their cause, but also has plenty of top tips for the more experienced.
The session will cover your campaign objectives, when to contact the media, who to contact, how to contact, building blocks of a press release, practical session of press release writing, and advanced tips.

Basic news photography – getting your photo used by the press
If a picture paints a thousand words it stands to reason getting your photos used in the press could be very useful to your cause. This workshop will take you through the basics of news photography giving you experience of how to take a photo your local newsdesk will want to use. This is a hands on workshop so bring a digital camera and its USB lead so images you take during the day can be downloaded to a PC. If you have a laptop, please bring it along to download your images. You will learn digital camera basics, use of props, practical session, previewing images.

Video Filming
Videos are fast becoming the most important way of communicating with your customers and beneficiaries online and through social media. But how do you create expert short videos that will showcase your business? Is it as difficult as it looks? Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team will help talk you through how easy it can be. You will use our video equipment on the day. This practical course will take you through filming basics and help you create video reports for your organisation.
Editing your Video
Once you have taken raw footage for your video, what is the best way of cutting that into a short, sharp clip that packs a punch and that people will watch and share? Using industry standard software, Final Cut, you will have a practical editing session bringing together your video.
Get Video Camera Ready
Do you freeze in front of a camera? Would you like to learn how best to sell your charity or business and maximise opportunities to get your message out there via video? In this practical session, you will perfect your 1 minute message and practice the body language needed to positively represent your company. No longer will you stumble over your words, and kick yourself later for missing a key opportunity to make a valuable new way that could help your cause or business. By the end of this practical workshop you will have a succinct and professional answer for those networking events or opportunities.
Social Media
This session focuses on the main social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. This is perfect for delegates of beginner or intermediate level experience of social media. It covers; how to set up your social media page, how to manage its content, top tips on providing content, planning, targeting and nurturing social media contacts, integrating your social media with other campaigning and measuring impact.
Grant Fundraising
Aimed at the voluntary sector, this course is perfect for people who are new to grant funding. KM Charity Team has had great success in applying for grant funding, and we will be sharing our tips for success.
Salesforce & Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
How do you keep track of prospects, leads, opportunities, and what is happening to your prospective and current customers? At the KM Charity Team we have used Salesforce CRM for over 10 years. The first 10 licences are granted free for charities, and we have found it an invaluable tool for growing our business. Come along and we will give you a demonstration of the power of Salesforce and talk about how it could work for your charity.
