Kent Literacy Awards open for nominations

Kent Literacy Awards open for nominations. Nominations are accepted from parents, pupils, teaching, support staff and management at primary and secondary schools in Kent, Medway and Bexley that showcase initiatives that develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. The awards culminate with a celebratory ceremony at Hempstead House Hotel, Sittingbourne at in June.

They recognise the expertise and dedication that are the hallmarks of an outstanding teacher. Award categories include primary, secondary, newly qualified teacher, non teaching member of staff including dinner ladies and caretakers and a volunteer award, which includes members of the PTA and governors.

KM Charity Abseil Challenge at Thomas Place, Maidstone

Take the plunge for charity! The KM Abseil Challenge offers a fun fundraising opportunity for groups and individuals. Participants can choose who they want to support from a list of charities and good causes. This year’s Maidstone abseil offers a drop of over 100ft from the top of Thomas Place with views overlooking the Gallagher Stadium and the rest of the county town.

KM Big Bike Ride at Betteshanger Country Park, Deal

Cyclists ride either a 100km coastal sportive or a more leisurely countryside route of 50km. The event is a great way to raise funds for a good cause, but riders can also take part just for fun. Electric bikes are now welcome on the 50km route!

Closing date for Perfect Packed Lunch Awards

Last chance for primary school children to enter the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards and have their creative writing and artwork put on display at The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge. Entrants must draw their perfect imaginary or genuine packed lunch and explain what makes it so special. Winners will be invited to an awards ceremony where they will see their work exhibited.

KM Charity Golf Day at Chart Hills

KM Charity Team hosts an exclusive charity golf day and luncheon at the fantastic Chart Hills golf course. Chart Hills is an award winning course designed by Sir Nick Faldo. Noted for its diversity and challenging landscape, the course also offers stunning views across the High Weald of Kent. The day includes breakfast, 18 holes, two course lunch, prizes, raffle and auction. Funds raised go to schemes that improve children’s road safety and literacy skills throughout Kent.

KM Football Endurance Challenge at Baypoint, Sandwich

The KM Football Endurance Challenge offers eight hours of unlimited football in a round robin tournament. The winning team will receive medals and the Endurance Football Challenge Trophy. This is a fundraising event and each player is expected to raise a minimum of £75. Teams must present their final squad lists by 1st May 2017
