Green heroes awardWalk to School schemes run by the KM Charity Team have been recognised as International Green Heroes.

The Walking Bus, Active Bug and Walk on Wednesday initiatives were chosen to receive The Green Organisation accolade for their impact on improving the environment by removing school-run car journeys from the roads.

Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team, received the Green Heroes award from campaigner Doreen Lawrence, mother of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence.

Karl Tullett, from The Green Organisation, said: “KM Walk to School schemes maximise the number of parents switching their school run to greener forms of travel.
