A nail-biting climax to the Medway heat of the KM Big Quiz ended with Ad Hokhs pipping Supernova and Snowball’s Chance to top spot by just one point.
The event attracted 29 teams and raised more than £5,000 for good causes. Clic Sargent, the children’s cancer charity, the KM Charity Team’s children’s road safety work and Lordswood Leisure Centre’s appeal to raise funds for a neuro-cycle will all benefit from the charity pot.
Main event sponsors for the night included Kent Reliance, P&O Ferries, Shepherd Neame and Barclays. Shepherd Neame donated the entire stock for the charity bar which Barclays volunteers manned. The bank has donated £3,000 to the charity pot.
Medway Messenger news editor Sarah Clarke formerly welcomed guests and thanked sponsors for their support.
Top placed team from the event will be invited to the county final of the KM Big Quiz next month at Bridgewood Manor Hotel.

Key partners praised
The small army of volunteers who helped stage the night were praised by event organiser Kate Baker.
She said: “The generosity of local firms who gave their time and financial support to the event helped make the Big Quiz such a success.”
The support of Shepherd Neame and Barclays was ‘absolutely critical’ to the event’s success along with sponsors Independent Music Productions, P&0 Ferries and Kent Reliance.
“We are grateful to the team at Lorsdwood Leisure Centre, Abdul Mumtaz from Dominios pizza, who donated food for the volunteers and Bookers in Canterbury for supplying cheese.”
Mrs Baker also thanked Matt and Caroline Loughrey from CLIC Sargent and Sandra Mumford and her team of volunteers.
Raffle prizes were donated by: Tim Woodlock from Bike Warehouse, Gillingham, Silver Blades Ice Rink, Lordswood Leisure Centre, Eurostar, Hornby, Evolution Productions and Jaques Gous at the Weald of Kent Golf Course Hotel and Business Centre
