Boat bookings are flying for the KM Dragon Boat Race next month.

Organisers are urging teams to book now to make a splash for their favourite charities while there’s still time.

Dragon racers will push the boat out on Sunday, July 6 at Mote Park Water Sports Centre, which is supporting the event. The centre’s owner Stuart Clarke is also offering a 10% discount off courses booked and paid for on the day. Courses include sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and scuba diving.

Mr Clarke said: “We run events for schools and the general public but love to also get involved with charity events. We have supported the Dragon Boat Race for the last three years and it always raises a large amount of money for charity.”

Event organiser Dominic Comins, from the KM Charity Team, said: “We are delighted to have the support of Mote Park Water Sports Centre once again. The centre will also be open on the day so there’ll be plenty for families to see and do at the KM Dragon Boat Race.”

He added: “We’ve only got a handful of dragon boats left. Make sure you book yours today so you can take part in one of the biggest and most exciting events of the summer.”

Teams of 11 will take part in at least three races to compete for a place in the finals at the end of the day. One crew member on each boat will beat a drum to set the pace while the others will take to the oars.

The annual event is being staged on Sunday, July 6 at Mote Park Water Sports Centre in Maidstone.

The registration fee per boat is £400 online but organisations can receive a £50 discount when booking online by using the code KMDBPA14. To book a boat, click here.
