Charities will get a cash windfall thanks to Barclays who are supporting the Canterbury heat of the KM Big Charity Quiz.
The bank will match funds raised on the night from the raffle and charity bar guaranteeing big money for the Kentish Gazette’s charity of the Year, Motor Neurone Disease Association East Kent, as well as children’s literacy projects in the district.
Staff from Barclays will also be serving the drinks at the charity bar whose stock has been donated by Faversham-based brewery Shepherd Neame.
A highlight of the quiz calendar, the event is being hosted at the University of Kent Sports Hall on Friday, 21 April.
Teams will enjoy a night of brainteasers with the chance to win an array of prizes in the raffle – all for under £7 a head when booking online and using discount code KMNews17.
Organisers are calling for quiz teams to book now and join the charity fundraising push. Event organiser Dominic Comins, of the KM Charity Team, said: “Thanks to Barclays there’s no better excuse to sign up a team. Gather friends, family or work colleagues for a great night out and lets make it a record breaker for charity.”
Rebecca Hadley, Canterbury branch manager of Barclays said: “It is our pleasure to support the KM Big Quiz. This year we are also going to have a table at the quiz so come along and see if you can beat the banker!”
Office Angels will provide a team of helpers on the night to collect answer sheets and jokers from team captains during the evening. Other organisations backing the event include Shepherd Neame, League of Friends of Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Armadillo Self Storage, IMP Event Production, Eurostar, Hornby and University of Kent Sport.
