Frugal fare boosts reading rewards

Canterbury Inner Wheel President Pat Wakeham presents a donation to Inspire Schools CEO Simon Dolby

Members of Canterbury’s Inner Wheel Club held a Frugal Lunch this week to raise funds for an innovative reading scheme.

Inspire Schools CEO Simon Dolby briefed members on the wide remit of the educational charity as well as the success of Buster’s Book Club. To give support to the initiative the club staged its annual Frugal Lunch where bread and soup are served to the members who make a donation to a cause.

Simon Dolby said: “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the members of the club. They were enthusiastic about the work of our charity and asked detailed questions. The £150 donation they provided will enable us to support an additional school with Buster’s Book Club locally.”
