Some people say it with flowers but one educational charity is giving away a free holiday as a thank you to its supporters.

The KM Charity Team, part of Inspire Schools, is running a competition to win a well-deserved break with Haven Holidays to The Orchards in Essex. The prize includes a stay for two adults and two children in a prestige two-bed caravan from Monday, October 14 for four nights.

But hurry, as the deadline to submit an entry for the prize draw is the morning of Wednesday, September 25.

Anyone who has taken part in any of the charity’s annual fundraising events is eligible to enter the contest. These include the KM Big Bike Ride, KM Charity Walk, KM Colour Run, KM Dragon Boat Race, KM Abseil, KM Big Charity Quiz, and Buster’s Charity Firewalk.

Dominic Comins, Events Organiser for the KM Charity Team, said: “The holiday is a donation from a very kind supporter who can no longer use it. And we jumped at the chance to gift this to someone who has joined in one of our events.

“Each year, we put on fun activities to raise money for our work with schools. But we firmly believe in collaborative fundraising and so participants can nominate another charity or good cause to receive the bulk of the sponsorship they raise.

“In this way, we have helped hundreds of Kent causes that don’t have the time or resources to stage big fundraising events of their own.”

He added: “Each and every participant makes a difference, so thank you to anyone who has taken the time to support us and I look forward to sending the winner their prize.”

To enter, simply email Dominic at dcomins@thekmgroup.co.uk saying why you would like to go into the prize draw. The winner will be announced next week.

The KM Charity Team runs Active Wow (Walk on Wednesday), Walking Bus, and Green Footsteps as well as the home reading scheme Buster’s Book Club. Other projects for young people include cookery contest Young Cooks and science competition the Bright Spark Awards.

Fundraising events open for booking include Buster’s Charity Firewalk on Sunday, September 29 and the KM Abseil Challenge on Saturday, October 5. Next year’s KM Big Bike Ride on Sunday, April 26, 2020 is also available for sign-up. Nominated charities and good causes will receive 70 per cent of sponsorship raised by their supporters. The remainder will support the KM Charity Team’s walk to school and child literacy work.
