Young people now have just over a week to submit recipes for kitchen contest Young Cooks.
And one of the judging organisations says it can’t wait for the Masterchef-style final of the competition.
Sarah Leipnik of Golding Homes said: “We’re supporting this project again because it’s such an amazing way for young people to demonstrate their skills and their passion about cooking and using ingredients that are local and healthy.
“We can’t wait to see who we get.”
Organised by the KM Charity Team, the competition is open to children aged six to 19 from across Kent and the south-east.
Entrants are invited to submit recipes that are healthy and delicious, with special consideration given to dishes incorporating locally sourced ingredients.
But time is fast running out to submit entries before the November 6 deadline.
Ms Leipnik added: “If you are interested in food, in cooking, please enter.”
Shortlisted entrants will be invited to prepare their dishes at a Masterchef-style final at judging organisation Broadstairs College, where primary-school, family, secondary-school and overall winners will share £500 in prize money.
Apart from Golding Homes and Broadstairs College, Young Cooks is supported by Taylor Meats, the Dog at Wingham, the Southern Co-op, Chequers Kitchen, Macknade Fine Foods, Principals by CH & Co Group, Brakes, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Kent Catering Services, SE Medical and Whole School Meals.
