There’s only a week left in which to submit recipe entries for kids’ kitchen contest Young Cooks.
And with the judges now keenly looking forward to the Masterchef-style final, one of them in particular is eager to stress the competition’s potential to help young people develop important life skills.
Anthony Irwin of Kent Catering Services said: “We are proud to be supporting the 2019 competition.
“It’s a pleasure to see the young cooks at work, learning skills that will see them through life and possibly turn into the chefs of the future.”
Organised by the KM Charity Team, the competition is open to children aged six to 19 from across Kent and the south-east.
Potential entrants have until Wednesday, November 6, to submit recipes that are healthy and delicious ‑ with special consideration given to dishes incorporating locally sourced ingredients.
Shortlisted entrants will be invited to prepare their dishes at the final later in November, when primary-school, family, secondary-school and overall winners will share £500 in prize money.
Apart from Kent Catering Services, the Young Cooks judges are Broadstairs College, Taylor Meats, the Dog at Wingham, the Southern Co-op, Chequers Kitchen, Macknade Fine Foods, Principals by CH & Co Group, Brakes, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, SE Medical, Golding Vision and Whole School Meals.
