The deadline for the London Teacher of the Year Awards has been extended, giving people an extra week to nominate educators going that extra mile to transform children’s life outcomes.
Anyone can submit nominations, and the deadline for doing so is now 11.59pm on Sunday, March 8.
Winners will be announced for primary and secondary education, the capital as a whole as well as its separate districts, and in categories including school leaders, senior and newly qualified teachers, support staff, volunteers and sport and science teachers.
The judging process for the sport category will be overseen by school-catering business Principals by CH&CO.
Principals by CH&CO sales director Peter McKenna said: “The London Teacher of the Year Awards are really special for us because we cater in 216 schools nationally and have got a real interest in sports and nutrition.”
Mr McKenna added that he was looking forward to meeting the awards winners on the night of the ceremony, which will take place at key sponsor British Airways’ headquarters in Harmondsworth, west London, in June.
Karen Brinkman, general organiser at awards organiser Inspire Schools, said: “It’s fantastic to have Principals by CH&CO on board for the London Teacher of the Year Awards again this year.
“They are a business with a real commitment to children’s welfare, going into schools not just to provide catering services but also to promote healthy and positive attitudes to food among children.
“That passion for promoting children’s physical wellbeing qualifies them perfectly for the task of helping us find the best sport teachers in London.”
