Good causes are set to share £3,000 raised through the Medway heat of the KM Big Charity Quiz on Friday (March 6).
Staged at Chatham’s St George Hotel, the quiz attracted 27 teams, with the Dickensians ‑ the new name of serial champs Supernova – coming first.
The runners-up were the Jolly Rogers, and the Burnt Oakers came third. All of the top 10 teams qualified for the Big Quiz county final at Canterbury’s Westgate Hall on December 11.
The money generated by the quiz will be shared between the Medway Messenger’s charity of the year, Abigail’s Footsteps, the Dartford and Gravesend Messengers’ charity partner, the YMCA, and the KM Charity Team’s literacy and road-safety and walk-to-school initiatives.
Temps from Office Angels did an impressive job selling £400 worth of raffle tickets. And Shepherd Neame and the Southern Co-op also provided goodies for special hampers for Dickensians, who also went home with a cash prize worth £135.
Also helping out on the night was sound specialist IMP Studio & Live.
Event organiser Hannah Hawksworth said: “Once again, the Big Quiz was a great night out for everybody involved.
“A big thank you to all the teams who took part and the sponsors who provided such invaluable support.
“The money that they all helped raise will enable the KM Charity Team to provide educational services for children across Kent, and will also benefit two charities doing really amazing work.”
Booking is now open for the Canterbury Big Quiz, which takes place at Westgate Hall on Friday, April 17.
