Mike Ward
CEO
Mike has had a long career in the young people’s charity sector in a variety of roles including joint CEO of Young Lewisham Project, Head of Youth Services for Castlehaven Community Association; and Head of Fundraising at Fitzrovia Youth in Action. In addition, Mike was a founding board member of the Young Camden Foundation, an organisation set up to assist youth service providers across Camden.
Jo Homes
Senior Administrator
Jo provides support to team members delivering both educational and charitable events and initiatives organised by the KM Charity Team and Inspire Schools.
Kay Devine
Buster's Book Club Coordinator
Kay coordinates the children's literacy initiative Buster's Book Club and handles all elements including new school sign-up and supporting Literacy Leaders to ensure the scheme is a success.
Ben Skelton
Press and Communications
Ben looks after both internal and external communications for the charity in Kent, Sussex, London and East Anglia.
Kathy Beel
Walk to School Coordinator
Kathy co-ordinates the children's Green Travel initiative Walk to School and handles all elements including new school sign-up and support to ensure the scheme is a success.
Sara Bourne
Head of IT
Sara manages all of the IT needs of the charity with responsibilities including the website, Salesforce CRM database and providing promotional, social media and event graphics for the team.
Kerry Fry
Finance and HR
Kerry looks after the finances and HR of the charity handling invoices, payments, contracts and reports for both management and Trustees.
Sophie Wallace
Fundraising Officer
Sophie is in charge of fundraising for the charity, liaising with companies and individuals to ensure funding is in place for successful implementation of the charity's green travel and literacy programmes, contests, awards, and challenge events.
Karen Brinkman
General Manager
Karen is General Manager leading on educational services. Karen can assist schools and parent groups to launch walking buses, Super WoW! and Green Footstep schemes and advise sponsors on the benefits of supporting the project.

Maureen Chiana
Maureen Chiana
Trustee
Founder of The Mindsight Academy, Maureen is a Neuro-Leadership and Resilience speaker, lecturer, corporate consultant, and mentor. Having worked in senior leadership and management positions in different sectors, she has successfully run her own businesses in the Education, IT and Hospitality sectors.
Barbara Martin
Trustee
Barbara's passion within the charity is children's health and well-being. She actively supports the charity's new initiatives - Bright Sparks, Literacy, and Kent Cooks - as well as its range of walk to school events and services staged across Kent and Medway.
Brian Portanier
Trustee
Brian Portanier launched and still operates Kent's longest running walking bus scheme at Minster Primary School, Thanet. His hands on expertise and knowledge of walk to school schemes is used across the charity.
Stuart Smith
Chairman
Stuart is a consultant with 45 years experience of transport planning, specialising in local and community transport. He is Director of Thanet Community Transport. Stuart has been involved with the charity since 2003, originally representing Thanet District Council prior to his retirement.
Martin Vye
Trustee
Martin is a founder member of the charity. He is a Kent county councillor and is keen to ensure KCC  supports the charity's work in reducing the number of car journeys to school and encourage healthy lifestyles.

Honorary Patrons 

Joanna Adeyinka-Burford
Honorary Patron
Joanna has appeared as an actress in Doctors, Holby City and Little Britain, as well as working as a presenter in the UK and Australia. Since 2015, she has presented The Let's Go Club for CBeebies. She has also spent 13 years working in primary education as an expressive arts practitioner, helping improve the literacy skills of those with English as an additional language.
Ben Roddy
Honorary Patron
Actor and performer Ben trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Since graduating he has worked extensively in all areas of the profession including theatre, radio, television and film. Ben has appeared in over 100 productions in theatres UK wide and played the role of pantomime dame at the Marlowe Theatre for more than a decade.
Nick Butterworth

Nick's creations include books about Percy the Park Keeper. Percy also appeared in his own animated TV series. He has written and illustrated other children's books including Thud!, The Whisperer and two books about Q Pootle 5, a space-dweller whose friends include Oopsy, Planet Dave and Tiger. Nick is a founding partner of Snapper Productions, producers of the CBeebies series Q Pootle 5
Terry Waite
Honorary Patron
Terry Waite CBE was the Assistant for Anglican Communion Affairs for the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, in the 1980s. As an envoy for the Church of England, he travelled to Lebanon to try to secure the release of four hostages. He was himself kidnapped and held captive from 1987 to 1991. He is president of Emmaus UK, a charity for formerly homeless people.
Phil Gallagher

Phil Gallagher is best known for playing the lead part in the CBeebies Mister Maker children's television show but he is also well known for his panto roles at Canterbury's Marlowe Theatre. Phil is an active ambassador for the charity's literacy and walk to school initiatives in Kent primary schools.
