The ultimate team challenge
Enter a team in the KM Dragon Boat Race and raise funds for your chosen charity.
The 2019 event will be held at Mote Park, Maidstone on Sunday, September 22.
An annual dragon boat challenge is staged by the KM Charity Team to help charitable groups with their fundraising. School PTA groups, sports clubs, charities and businesses can raise funds for the cause of their choice, while the booking fee goes to support the work of the KM Charity Team.
Teams of 11 compete with one of the crew beating a drum to dictate the pace of the paddles. They take part in a minimum of three races but the fastest teams compete in the finals at the end of the day. You may have up to 17 rowers in your squad, so fill all 17 spaces to raise more money and everyone will have at least 2 races on the day.
It costs £475 to book a boat online and crew members are asked to raise as much as they can for their chosen charity or good cause.
It is a challenge for those who wish to savour the ancient traditions of the dragon boat, as much as for those who want to test their strength and rowing technique by travelling across the 250m course in the fastest time. It is also a day for spectators as well as for people taking part.
Corporate sponsorship packages are available, with each firm having a dragon boat named after their business.

KM Dragon Boat Race is staged as a fundraising event to support the educational services delivered by the KM Charity Team. Booking charges and corporate sponsorship are put towards the educational work of the KM Charity Team in the county’s schools.
