Rise to the challenge
Schools in Kent, Medway, Bexley, Sussex, and East Anglia are invited to take part in Ted’s Big Sunflower Competition. Grow and nurture sunflowers on the school site and send us a photo once fully grown and you could win a prize.
The deadline to apply for a packet of seeds is 1 June. Photos of your bloom must be emailed to Inspire Schools by noon on 16 September.
Email over a photo of your sunflower, ideally with a child or adult alongside to show the scale. Remember to state the name and town of the school and the name of those in the picture, plus age of the child or children. Captions should read left to right. Send these to: firstname.lastname@example.org
How we can help
If you need a packet of sunflower seeds complete the enquiry form below and we will post you a packet. Please ensure you use a school email address so we know you are a representative of the school. Note: we have a limited supply so first come, first served. You will also receive a digital copy of the competition logo to use on the school’s website and newsletters.
- Selected photos of children and sunflowers will be featured in the Phil and Ted Blog written on this website for Phil Gallagher – aka CBeebies’ Mister Maker.
- The Education People will provide training support for staff at the winning schools.
- Winners will also go through to the annual Green School Awards for an extra chance at recognition.
Can individual families also take part planting sunflowers in their own garden at home? Yes, although we can’t provide a free packet of seeds for individuals.
